AUDITIONS:
 

  • Singing: Saturday, April 27, 2019 (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM). Everyone who would like to be considered for casting MUST sing for the production team.

  • Dance Call: Sunday, April 28, 2019 (9:00 AM-11:00 AM) Please be prepared for a musical theatre style and tap audition.

  • Callbacks: Sunday, April 28, 2019

LOCATION:  Reagle Music Theatre at Waltham High School (617 Lexington St, Waltham, MA 02452). Use the entrance under the Reagle Music Theatre marquee.


CONTRACT: LOA (contract/salary approval pending).
Anticipated Actor: $571 per week

Most non-Equity performing positions are unpaid; EMC points are available.


WHAT TO PREPARE:
Please prepare 16 to 32 bars in the style of the show or from the show itself. ALL interested in auditioning must sing for the production team.

Please bring two (2) copies of your résumé and most recent headshot, stapled back to back.


AUDITIONS:
AEA Members may make appointments for singing auditions by emailing reagle1@gmail.com. Audition sign-ups will close at 12pm on April 26, 2019. AEA Members who do not make an appointment will be seen throughout Friday as time permits. Equity members with appointments should arrive 10-15 minutes before their requested time to fill out audition paperwork. If you cannot attend on Saturday, there will be a limited amount of time to hear people sing on Sunday; please email us for more information.

Appointments are not available for non-Equity actors. Non-Equity actors are encouraged to attend and will be seen as time permits.

OTHER:

  • An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition.

LA CAGE CASTING BREAKDOWN
Seeking skilled Equity and non-Equity actors of all ethnicities, ages, and physical types for principal and ensemble roles.

  • Georges (Baritone, 40-55) – The charismatic owner/emcee of the drag club; suave, sensitive, funny, and madly in love with Albin (his partner of 20+ years) and Jean-Michel (his son); would move mountains for his son and partner; has a beautiful baritone singing voice. All ethnicities.

  • Albin (Bari-tenor, 40-60) – The overly-dramatic but hilarious star of the drag club (his alter ego is ZaZa), and Georges' longtime partner. He is a force to be reckoned with when crossed, but his love of family and his ability to entertain makes him a most beloved friend, confidant, and "mother." Requires a comedic performer with star quality who can also make the audience cry with "I Am What I Am." All ethnicities.

  • Jean-Michel (Bari-tenor, 20-25) – a well-mannered, educated young man in love with his fiancee; must appear innocent enough that his actions of offending his fathers does not seem calculated, but a misstep initiated by his fear of losing Anne; must move well. All ethnicities.

  • Anne (20-25) – fiance of Jean Michel; a kind and sweet young woman; she appears a bit confined by the far-right morals of her father, yet she is her own person when not in his presence; must be able to dance. All ethnicities.

  • Jacob (Tenor, 25-30) – the "butler/maid" with a flair for the ridiculous; campy, over the top; aspires to be on the stage; very protective of his extended family; requires a hilarious comic actor who sings and moves well. Self-described as a "quinceañera goddess."

  • Jacqueline (Mezzo, 40-60) – the owner of the top restaurant in town (Chez Jacqueline); has the ability to make anyone feel like they are part of her family; very theatrical; can light up the room. All ethnicities.

  • Edouard Dindon (Baritone, 50-65) – Anne's father. A bigoted, conservative politician; pompous and quirky with a great sense of comic timing. All ethnicities.

  • Mme. Marie Dindon (Mezzo, 50-65) – Anne's mild-mannered but quirky mother. A character actress with a great sense of comedy. All ethnicities.

  • Francis (25-60) – The hard-working stage manager at La Cage who is very used to the chaotic herding of drag queens. All ethnicities.

  • La Cagelles (Angelique, Phaedra, Hanna, Chantal, Bitelle, Mercedes) – 6 male drag queens. Must be able to dance in heels, sing well, and have natural comedic timing. All ethnicities.

  • Renaud (Baritone) – A chef at Chez Jacqueline. All ethnicities.

  • Mme. Renaud (Alto) – The hostess at Chez Jacueline. All ethnicities.

  • Collete (Early 20’s) – A flirtatious beauty. All ethnicities.

  • Etienne (Early 20’s)– A suave young man. All ethnicities.

  • Tabarro – A weathered fisherman. All ethnicities.

  • Babette – A townsperson. All ethnicities.

Wardrobe Supervisor

The wardrobe supervisor will be responsible for supervising costume repairs, construction, alteration and laundering, pre-show prep, unpacking rentals and assuring safe return, emergency repairs, taking measurements, managing administrative tasks related to the costume shop,and assisting the director as needed. Props Master

The props master will be responsible for acquiring, constructing, making needed repairs, and alterations for our performances, working with the stage managers, director and crew. Ticketing Associates

Ticketing Associates will be responsible for running the box office on show days, performing small administrative tasks, operating the ticketing database, and assisting customers on the telephone and at the office. It is critical that associates are well versed with computers and have a good eye for detail. Must be available to work performance weekends.
